Because of an average loss of fluid, fat or tissues such as muscle, tendon or tissue conjunctive. Thinning can be generalized, i.e. affecting the whole organism, or localized as in the case of muscle atrophy by immobilization. In the third age, the body tends to lose 1 to 2 kg of weight every decade.

The BMI was developed by Belgian Statistician and Anthropometrist Adolphe Quetelet. It is calculated by dividing the Wight (In KG) by the square of its height (In M). therefore it is expressed in kg / m².

WHO (World Health Organization) Establishes a Definition used with the following values,In 1997, Published in 2000 & Adjusted in 2010:

BMI less than 18.5 is below normal weight.

BMI of 18.5-24.9 is normal weight

BMI of 25.0-29.9 is overweight.

BMI of 30.0-34.9 is class I obesity.

BMI of 35.0-39.9 is class II obesity.

BMI of 40.0 or greater is class III, severe (or morbid) obesity.

BMI of 35.0 or greater in the presence of at least one or other significant morbidity is also classified by some people as morbid obesity.
